How to give up smoking?

 


It really sounds very tough when we hear the way out to give up smoking. But one won't disagree that the smoking habit has not been developed overnight. It must have been started at some moment as a beginner. If we think of that moment, it is very easy to say that beginning of smoking could have been avoided. But no one was there to restrict. Yet it is never too late. But it is also true that the smoking habit or any other habit can not be changed without self try. It does not matter whether you want to change the good or bad habit. But you must be ready to accept the change. This acceptance never comes without self realisation.

If it self realised, then the point comes how to abandon this. Small story. Once, a chain smoker read in a news paper that the crew of a ship hesitated not to lit the rope of a ship when they had been exhausted with cigars. They crossed the lowest of lowest limit to meet their temptations.  How come such educated people can lower down to such extent. They did not think a bit. The man felt very bad. He realised to what extent smoking habit can take us. He also realised that if he were in the place of those crew members, he would have never tried to smoke that filthy rope as a substitute of cigar. But how can he prove himself. That was the moment, he threw the cigar in his hand and determined not to smoke till that day until he was compelled to go down to that extent like that crew members. And the day of smoking never came again in his life. This was the example of quit smoking when someone is hurt with some situation or his self respect is at stake. 

If someone is bewildering how to quit smoking, the simple method is adopt the method of unlearning the learnt one. It is a gradual process. We have to go reverse slowly the way we have developed the habit of smoking. One day we will reach the starting point followed by quit smoking. In this process patience is the key word. We all are well aware of withdrawal syndrome. So sudden quit of some habit will obviously meet with some side effects as our body is not ready to absorb it. 

Medical science has been developed to that extent that various drugs  de-addiction medicines are available.  

It has also been seen that smoking or bad habits can be withdrawn through spiritual powers. But rare people believe in it. The longer the habit of smoking, longer the time it will take to quit. 

Finally, giving up of smoking is not impossible at all. Sometimes it is willingly and sometimes it is forcefully.
